An 8 member delegates from University Grants Commission (UGC), Nepal visited at PPG Program of NSU for training cum exposure visit on “Governance in Higher Education”held on 11 to 16 July 2017. The training consisted of class lectures and discussions on higher education governance: theory and practice; leadership and governance process in university; quality assurance in higher education; higher education reform program, etc. The exposure visits covered University of Dhaka, University Grants Commission (UGC), Bangladesh and North South University.
Three lecture sessions were organized as part of the training to introduce young officials with the contemporary ideas in Higher Educational Governance and Quality Assurance in Higher Education.
The sessions were conducted by Professor M. Mohibur Rahman, Former Member, UGC, Bangladesh, Dr. Ahmed Tazmeen, Department of Economics, NSU and Dr. M. Mahfuzul Haque, Faculty Member, PPG, NSU.
While visiting Dhaka University, delegates also had a briefing session in the Department of Development Studies where Professor Dr. Atiur Rahman, former Governor, Bangladesh Bank and other faculty members of the department were present.
A vibrant and lively discussion was held among the participants regarding the higher education governance, quality assurance and role of UGC where the delegates from UGC, Nepal also shared their long working experience in this field.
The delegates visited University Grants Commission, Bangladesh where discussions and exchange of views were held with the presence of Chairman of UGC, Professor Abdul Mannan, two full time members of UGC, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain and Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali, and senior staffs of UGC, Bangladesh.
A closing ceremony was held at the PPG conference room where the certificates were awarded to the participants by the Vice Chancellor of North South University (NSU),Professor Atiqul Islam.
